OysterCulture – I think they’re talking about a lot of blogs, though I haven’t really paid that much attention to Wikio until recently (having heard of them only earlier this year!).

Kavey – I’m not sure about partial RSS feeds. I like to be able to read the whole post within my reader, then move over to the blog to leave a comment if I have something to contribute. To be forced over to the blog before I’m ‘ready’ is a bit irritating – and often I stop reading if the first few lines aren’t interesting enough to grab my attention, even if the rest of the post is spectacular…

authors with traditional media credentials (Jamie Goode, Simon Woods, Peter Brown, Tandleman and Melissa Cole). The cross over to new media channels will hopefully be good for them

Reading the explanation from Wikio about the ranking, it seems that having a partial RSS feed only may well be a disadvantage, but never mind… it works for me!

Always interesting to get insight into the workings behind the curtains of these rating systems. I know several of the blogs but you’ve brought a few more to my attention. Congratulations on the top 10 status- that’s a heck of an accomplishment. What they do not say is to 20 or how many blogs, and I’d hazard a guess that we’re talking a lot! So to break the 20 speaks to a lot of work and talent, not to mention time.

From transitioning to a new blog site myself, and really starting over in terms of stats its interesting how the visitor count and followers works. I really started over and it surprised me.

Kavey – I only found out about Wikio Gastronomy a few months ago. I’m not sure how many people know about it really. I’m still struggling to fully understand the ranking system…

Rob – clearly wine and beer bloggers are most affected by this new move away from Gastronomy! I wonder how this will affect blogs that cover both food and wine?

Douglas – yes, you clearly should stay in Gastronomy even though you straddle both subjects. And they are Le Cafe Anglais radishes!

Thanks for this. I’ve warned Blogger to expect a traffic spike for Intoxicating Prose(!) I’m glad I wasn’t moved to wine & beer – I’ve been more concerned with food for well over a year.

I would love to have a discussion (maybe over on my post makes more sense) about how food bloggers feel about the change too so it doesn’t look like “sour grapes” from us.
